Online news

Scribd is a new way of sharing news online, and is easy to use. By just logging on using your ‘Facebook’ account, you will be able to access personalize reading recommendations based on what your friends are sharing with you on ‘Facebook’, and the likes and interests you've recorded on the social networking site.

Scribd allows users to find things of interest without having to really look. This site is an extension of what Jonathan spoke about in the lecture, whereby our friends are becoming our personal editors, and actively selecting things for us, that they perceive will engaged our interests. This website allows users to access news they want to read, without having to look for it, as friends and ‘Facebook’ have taken over the selection process.

Therefore in a sense, Scribd is becoming a news filter, as its taking information from social networking sites, and looking for news that links to these topics. I found out about this on the ‘Facebook’ blog that Jonathan has shared in tutorials.
